인성교육을 위한 한 방법으로서 철학상담의 가능성

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 인성교육의 한 대안으로서 창의·인성교육을 수용하면서 철학상담이 이러한 인성교육에서 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있는지 그 가능성을 검토하는 것이다. 여기서 우리가 검토한 철학상담 방법은 루 메리노프의 5단계 결정법과 넬슨의 크라테스 대화방법이다.
인성교육의 목적은 인간다운 성품과 역량을 기르는 것이다. 이때 핵심 역량이란 핵심 가치·덕목을 실천하는 데 필요한 지식과 공감·소통하는 의사소통 능력이나 갈등해결능력 등이 통합된 능력을 말한다. 최근 인성교육은 관계성과 창의성 등 시대가 요구를 반영하는 개념으로 ‘창의·인성교육’이 거론되고 있다.
한편, 철학상담은 인생관, 세계관, 가치관과 관련되는 인간의 모든 문제와 고민들을 내담자가 스스로 풀어나가도록 상담사가 도와주의 대화의 과정이다. 특히 철학상담 접근법 중 세계관 해석과 관련하여서 코헨의 ‘논리기반’ 접근법은 내담자가 비합리적 가치 평가에서 빠져들 수 있는 추론과정의 비약을 내담자와 더불어 찾아보는 것이다.
우리는 이 접근법을 하나의 절차로 가지는 철학상담 방법 중 5단계결정법과 집단상담 방법으로서 넬슨의 소크라테스 대화법이 최근의 인성교육의 목적을 달성할 수 있는 하나의 방법인지 검토하였다. 그 결과 5단계 결정법은 기존의 인성교육이 추구하는 덕목들, 특히 소통, 협동의 가치를 실천하는 데 필요한 지식과 공감·소통하는 의사소통 능력이나 갈등 해결능력를 배양하는데 효과적이며, 넬슨의 소크라테스대화법은 창의·인성교육에서 추가된 가치 즉 창의성, 관계성 등의 가치들을 배양하는데 있어서 효과적인 방법으로 드러났다.

The purpose of this study is to examine a possibility of philosophical counseling as a method for personality education. The philosophical counseling methods we have examined here are Lou Marinoff’s five-step decision and Nelson’s socrates dialogue method.
The purpose of personality education is to cultivate the character and capacities of human. Capacities are those to integrate a knowledge necessary to practice the core values and virtues of human and an ability to communicate and resolve conflicts. In recent years, personality education requires relationship and creativity.
Philosophical counseling is a process of dialogue between the counselor and the client so that the client can solve all human problems and concerns related to life, world view and values. In particular, Cohen’s ‘logic-based approach’ to philosophical counseling approaches is to explore the client’s leap in the process of reasoning that can be deviated from the irrational value assessment.
We examined whether Lou Marinoff’s and Nelson’s methods achieve the purpose of recent personality education. The Lou Marinoff’s method includes Cohen’s ‘logic-based approach’. As a result, The Lou Marinoff’s method is effective in cultivating the virtues, knowledge needs to practice values of empathy and communication,
