Analysis of Living Conditions According to Increase of Single-Youth Households and Government Policy Issues

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 주목할 만한 새로운 사회현상 중의 하나로 가족유형의 다양화에 따른 1인 가구의 빠른 증가를 들 수 있다. 연령별 1인 가구 중 20대와 30대가 차지하는 비중이 매년 증가함에 따라 노인 1인가구의 비중보다 커지고 있음을 감안할 때 청년 1인 가구의 증가에 따른 문제점은 무엇이며, 이를 해결하기 위한 대책방안은 과연 존재하는지에 대한 심각한 고민이 필요한 시점이라 하겠다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청년 1인가구의 지속적인 증가추세의 원인을 다각적인 측면에서 찾고 그 요인에 따른 생활실태를 분석하고자 한다. 경제적. 사회문화적, 교육적, 기술적 측면의 크게 네 가지 측면에서 청년 1인가구의 생활실태상의 문제점이 무엇인가를 분석하고 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 정부의 정책과제는 무엇인지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 청년층은 상대적 빈곤감을 느끼는 사람들이 많으면서 앞으로 살아갈 날이 많은 연령층이면서 경제활동을 활발하게 하는 것이 요구되는 집단이다. 그러므로 이들을 둘러싼 새로운 사회문제를 제대로 진단하고 해결책을 모색해 나가지 못한다면 지속 가능한 도시발전을 기대하기가 어렵다는 측면에서 본 연구의 의미는 중요하다고 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Rapid growth of single-person households may be considered as one of notable social phenomena as family structure is diversified these days. Taking into account the fact that the proportion of single person households comprising young people in their twenties and thirties is increasing every year and it is getting larger than that of the single elderly households, it is high time we should think about a resulting problem due to the increase of single youth households and whether a solution to the problem exists at all. This research, therefore, searches for the causes of continuous growth of the number of single youth households from various aspects and analyzes living conditions thereof according to the causes. Next, problems in the living conditions of single youth households are analyzed from four different aspects, namely, economical, socio-cultural, educational, and technological aspect; this research then examines government policies deemed appropriate for solving the problems. The youth are such a group of people, many of whom suffering relative deprivation but at the same time, having many years to live and being expected to participate in active economic activities. Therefore, we propose that unless we properly diagnose this new social problem related to the youth and explore a solution thereto, sustainable growth of our society is hardly obtained.
