To clarify the radiologic features of mycoplasma pneumonia, author analyzed chest X-ray findings of In-patient, seen in Pediatric department of Chungnam National University Hospital during period of June 1st 1998 to May 31th 1999.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. Seasonal preponderance was noted, especially in summer and autumn
2. Male dominant and no age predominance were noted throughtout childhood period including infancy.
3. Sites of involvement were different and right lower lobe mostly involved
4. Patterns were different, as interstitial, bronchopneumonic and lobar types were similar in frequency.
5. Pleural effusion was rare.
With this results, involvement of right lower lobe is possible for mycoplasma pneumonia, but other lobe involvement and variable patterns were not thought to be suggestive of mycoplasma pneumonia with chest x-ray findings only.
