Reactions of trimethylplumbyl diethylamide, trimethylplumbyl methoxide and trimethylplumbyl ethylsulfide with phenylisocyanate were studied at various temperatures for 15 hrs. In all reactions, a cyclic trimer of phenylisocyanate was mainly produced at variable temperatures. At 200℃, a considerable amount of diphenylcarbodimide was formed from all the trimethylplumbyl compounds. The mechanism of cyclic polymerization of phenylisocyanate by the organometalic catalysts, and the correlation of substituents with the reactivity were discussed based on these results.
