This paper examined the relationship between Gyeongjahoeryesa and Onomichi. First, this study examined the background of dispatching Gyeongjahoeryesa and the background of forming Ilbonhaengrok. In 1419 Bakuhu in Japan dispatched a delegation to Joseon dynasty in order to grasp the real intention of Joseon which conquered Tsushima and grasp the situation of Joseon. Thus, Joseon Court sent Gyeongjahoeryesa in order to maintain friendly relationship with Japan by explaining that Joseon Court had only aimed to beat Japanese raiders and did not want to have hostile relationship with Bakuhu. And Ilbonhaengrok was formed because Sejong ordered Song Huigyeong to write a poem about the experience of going to Japan as an envoy when he went to Japan as an envoy, after Sejong saw Haengrok which Monkeishouyou offered him. Second, this study looked into the figure of Onomichi reflected in Ilbonhaengrok. Onomichi was a port city where Gyeongjahoeryesa visited two times. According to Ilbonhaengrok, Onomichi was a refuge from wind, rain and pirates and it was also the place of cultural exchange which had been represented by the street of various temples and exchanging poems and writings with Buddhist monks of Cheonnyeongsa. Thus, this study could find out from Onomichi that Cheonnyeongsa wrote Ilbonhaengrok from the experience of traveling like Tongshinsa in late Joseon dynasty and he started cultural exchange actively which was represented by exchanging poems and writings.
