육사의 「청포도」 재해석 = ‘청포도’와 ‘청포(靑袍)’, 그리고 윤세주

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The poem “Cheongpodo(green grapes)” is recognized as one of the masterpieces of the poet Yi Yuksa and it has been included in the Korean literature textbooks of middle and high school students. However, betraying its celebrity status, the core keywords of this poem, ‘Cheongpodo’ and ‘Cheongpo(靑袍)’, have still not been properly interpreted in its context. Based on the linkage between the revolutionary movement for Korea’s independence by Yi Yuksa and Chinese poems by DùFǔ, this study emphasizes five new interpretations of the poem:
1. “Cheongpodo” is connected with Yi Yuksa’sessay, “Yon-in-gi”, both of which have a close relationship with his revolutionary comrade, Yun Seju.
2. The word ‘Cheongpodo(green grapes)’ is likely to be interpreted as unripe grapes, not green grapes – a type of grapes.
3. The word ‘Cheongpo(blue robe)’ was borrowed from the ‘CheongpoBaekma(blue robe and white horse)’ written by the Chinese poet DùFǔ.
4. Yi Yuksatook ‘Cheongpo’ to symbolize revolutionist aspirations instead of its original negative connotation of rebels or traitors from the poem.
5. “Cheongpodo” is a song of an inspiration feast for weary revolutionists.
Therefore, the interpretation of the poem “Cheongpodo” should be modified as follows: 1. the image of ‘Cheongpo’ should be understood not as the nobility but as struggling revolutionists. 2. Consequently, the connotation of “Cheongpodo(green grapes)” as being fresh and new should be reconsidered.
