노태우 정부에서의 정치사회적 갈등양상과 해결경험 = How Did Rho Tae Woo Government Manage the Politico-social Conflicts?

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There were lots of difficult problems before Rho Tae Woo government emerged just after democratization, which included liquidating the legacies of authoritarian regime, lessening the economic inequality, and improving ROK-DPRK relations etc. Rho government was lack of experiences and capabilities to handle these problems, which were aggravated by the defeat of general election in 1988. Rho’s party merged with two other conservative parties(Kim Young Sam’s and Kim Jong Pil’s), which changed government from the divided one to the unified one. Under the unified government, however, Rho government could not manage the problems successfully. As a result, these problems could not be solved under Rho government, but transferred to the next government. In this sense, Rho regime period can be described as a transitional period from authoritarianism to democracy.
