소설의 크로노토프와 여성 서사시학 -<토지>, <미망>, <혼불>을 대상으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1년차(2003) 과제 : 소설의 크로노토프와 여성서사 시학(1) -『토지』를 대상으로
2년차(2004) 과제 : " (2) -『미망』을 대상으로
3년차(2005) 과제 : " (3) -『혼불』을 대상으로

본고는 M. 바흐찐의 소설이론인 크로노토프를 원용, 『토지』, 『미망』, 『혼불』를 대상으로 여성가족사소설이 가족과 민족의 상호관련 아래, 민족을 어떻게 서사화하였느냐를 검토한 것이다. 이들 세 작품은 자궁→집→나라의 크로노토프가 아이→가족→민족에 등가관계를 이루며 가계 연속성에 대한 욕망이 민족주체성 욕망과 동일시되는 여성가족사소설의 특징을 공통성으로 갖고 있다.
먼저, 박경리의『토지』는 빼앗긴 집 되찾기=귀환에 이르는 길의 얘기다. 이 때 길의 크로노토프는 ① 구체적 장소로서의 길과 ② 기호학적 범주의 길로 나눌 수 있고 각각의 크로노토프들이 서술 수준에 따라 길의 서사를 엮어간다.
다음으로, 박완서의 『미망』은 가업계승을 중심서사로 플롯층위에서 개성의 지역주의와 서사공간의 폐쇄성으로 인해‘섬’의 크로노토프를 형성한다. 이는 구체적 실체인‘섬’과 기호학적 범주의‘섬’으로 나눌 수 있고 전자는 인삼 재배지 개성의 복사판인 강화도이며 후자의‘섬’은 개성의 로컬리티를 비유한다.
마지막으로, 『혼불』은 죽음의 크로노토프가 전경화된 소설이다. 죽음의 크로노토프는 실제 장소와 기호학적 죽음으로 나눌 수 있는데 전자는 청암부인의 무덤과 인물들의 죽음을, 후자는 그것에 관련된 각종 의례, 민속소재들로 제시된다. 『혼불』의 작중인물들도 타나토스에 깊이 강박돼 있다. 플롯층위에서 『혼불』은 결말다운 결말이 없는 열린 텍스트로서 소설담화의 적정성을 고려하면 서사단위들의 파편화를 응집하는 데도 크로노토프는 유용한 개념이라고 생각된다.

A Study on Toji (The Land) and the Chronotope of the Road

This article aims to study on Toji (The Land) written by Park, Kyong-Rhee , a novel of female family history and the narrative poetics of the road, using Bakhtinean Chronotope. Toji has the chronotope of the road, having Pyungsari as a major chronotope and Kando, Seoul, Jinju, Tokyo, etc. as a number of minor chronotopes. It has parallel roads, crossing one road of womb→home→nation and the other road of child→family→people.

A Study on Mimang and the Chronotope of the Island

North Korea. Also, Mimang has a woman heir (granddaughter) who took over her grandfather's heritage focusing to ginseng and commercial morality of Gaesung. Then Mimang showed us an exclusive regionalism. That's why Mimang has the closed narrative space of the chronotope like an island on the level of its plot. The chronotope of an island is composed of two types. One is a real island, the other's semiotic island. The former is Ganghwado which is a copy of Gaesung as the place of growing ginseng, and the latter is Gaesung's locality.

Chronotope in the Novel and Poetics of Female Discourse
- Focusing on Honbool of Choi, Myoung-Hee

I have examined a novel of womans' family history Honbool and the chronotope of death. The chronotope of death is divided into reality and semiotic death ; the former is tombs of Mrs. Chungam while the latter is many kinds of rites relating to the death of characters and folk customs. Death is the kernel narrative of Honbool, and the characters in the novel are possessed by thanatos. Also, the death becomes a seed of life, so it's considered as a progress of a shift in generations. That is an ambivalence.
