The purpose of this study was to investigate differences of gait pattern between children and adolescents with Down syndrome through kinematical analysis. The subjects of this study were 8 children with Down syndrome and 8 adolescents with Down syndrome. The cinematography was used to obtain kinematical variables of gait pattern. The DLT method was used to get the 3-dimensional coordinates of the body landmark. The recorded images of subjects were digitized using KWON 3D motion analysis package. The gait pattern of children with Down syndrome slower and more unstable than that of adolescents. In addition, the children with Down syndrome enlarged their walking base and bent knees and hip joint in order to enhance their stability, but they walked with more upright upper body position.
