Objectives : To describe trends and attitudes concerning the prescription of hormone replacement therapy. Methods : Self administered postal questionnarie sent to Korean menopausal society. members (gynecologists, family medicine practitioners and general practitioners). Results : Results showed 1003 physicians (99.1%) routinely offered HRT to their menopausal patients. A high proportion of postmenopausal women doctors (81%) used HRT. Most popular indication for HRT were prevention of osteoporosis(75.6%), wellbeing or quality of life(69.1%) and vasomotor symptoms(91.0%). Significant differences were found between physicians in sex, age and practice pattern regarding indication to HRT. Most physician (79.8%) did not prescribe alternative medicine for postmenopausal women. Conclusions : Most Members of Korean menopausal society recommended HRT during menopause. Regarding indication to HRT were significant differences between physicians in sex, age and practice pattern.
