아우구스티누스의 삼위일체론과 그 교육에의 시사 = Augustinus’ Theory of the Trinity and Its Implications for Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

아우구스티누스는 가끔 “기독교의 저 유명한 플라톤”이라고 불린다. 그는 북 아프리카 도시인 히포의 주교였으므로 교구민의 일상의 문제들과 고통에 가슴 속 깊이 관여했다. DeTrinitate( 삼위일체에 관하여)라는 단 하나의 저작을 제외하고는 그의 모든 저작들은 기독교 존재의 실제적인 문제를 해결하기 위하여 써졌다고 한다. 아우구스티누스의 De Trinitate는 하나님은 셋이고 하나이시다는 복잡한 기독교 교리에 관한 설명이다. 그러나 그 저작의 마지막 반은 또한 마음의 철학에 관한 논문이다. 따라서 그의 신은 플라톤의 유한의 조물주도 플로티누스의 초월적 일자(一者)도 아니다. 그 분은 무(無)에서 모든 실재를 창조한 삼위일체 하나님이다. 아우구스티누스는 플라톤과 같이 영혼의 3조 유일성을 주장한다. 인간의 영혼은 신의 영상으로 만들어졌으므로 하나에서 셋이 아니면 안 될 것이다. 그러나 철학적으로 그는 한 관점에서 플라톤주의와의 관계를 끊고서 의식의 내적인 확실성의 특징들을 지성에서 찾지 않고 의지에서 찾았다. 그의 교육의 이해에 대한 소중한 공헌은 이러한 기독교 플라톤주의에서 나왔다. 그래서 그는 다음과 같이 주장한다. “인간이 기억, 이해와 의지가 판단을 함에 있어서 그리고 실행 함에 있어서 함께 작용하는 본질적인 유일성을 실현하지 못하는 한 그는 덕과 행복의 삶을 살 수 없다.”

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Aurelius Augustine(354?-430) is often called “the Plato of Christianity.” He was the Bishop of Hippo, a North African city, and was intimately involved in the day-to-day problems and sufferings of his parishioners. With the single exception of De Trinitate(On the Trinity), all of his works were written to meet practical problems of Christian existence. Augustine’s De Trinitate is an account of perplexing Christian Doctrine that God is both three and one. But the last half is also treatise on the philosophy of mind. Thus, his God is not the finite demiurge of Plato nor the transcendent one of Plotinus. He is the triune God of the Christian Scriptures who created ex nihilo all of reality. Augustine, like Plato, maintains the tripartite unity of the soul. Since the soul of man is made in the image of God, it would therefore be expected to be three-in-one. But he philosophically breaks with his own Platonism at one point, and find not in intellect, but in will, the primary characteristic of inner certainty of consciousness. This paper is to consider Augustine’s theory of the Trinity and its implications for education(teaching and learning). Augustine’s most valuable contributions to the understanding of education stem from his Christian Platonism. Thus, he holds that man cannot live the life of virtue and happiness unless he realizes his essential unity, in which memory, understanding and will work together in the making and executing of judgment. To sum up: 1. Patristic Philosophy and The Trinity: 1) Early Christian Theory of the Trinity; 2) The Necessity of the Trinity. 2. Augustinus’ Theory of the Trinity: 1) Sketch of De Trinitate; 2) The Christian Doctrine of the Trinity. 3. Its implications for education.
