레비나스 철학의 사회철학적 함의 ― 레비나스의 윤리와 정치

국문 초록 (Abstract)

프랑스 철학자 임마누엘 레비나스는 절대적 타자성과 나와 타자의 비대칭성에 기초하여 윤리적 관계를 새롭게 해석한다. 타자와 윤리에 대한 그의 사유는 동일성과 전체성의 철학에 대한 엄중한 비판이자, 이를 넘어서려는 과감한 시도라 할 만하다. 필자는 윤리에 기반해서 그리고 윤리와 더불어서 정치를 사유하려는 레비나스의 작업이 당위적인 관점에서뿐만 아니라 현실적인 차원에서 적지 않은 효과를 지닌다고 생각한다. 이런 입장에서, 이 논문은 레비나스의 저작에서 산발적으로 언급되고 있는 ‘정치’와 관련된 논의를 검토하고, 그가 생각하는 정치의 ‘의미’를 되새겨보는 것을 목표로 한다. 구체적으로 이 논문은 1) 레비나스 철학의 핵심이자 그의 정치 사유의 토대로 작용하는 ‘나와 타자의 윤리적 관계’에 대해 살펴보고, 2) 레비나스가 비판하는 자기중심성의 정치의 전형이라 할 수 있는 홉스의 정치철학을 간단히 검토한 후, 3) 타자의 책임에 기초한 레비나스의 정치 사유에서 정의, 국가, 인권이 어떻게 이해되고 있는지를 고찰하고, 4) 레비나스적 국가의 모습을 소박하게나마 그려본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas interprets the ethical relation of the I with the Other on the base of an absolute alterity and asymmetry. His thought on the Other and ethics is equal to strict criticism on identity and totality and a bold project to overcome them. Thus in my opinion, Leivnas' attempt to think the politic on the base of and with the ethics is probably effective in justifiable perspective as well as in performative one. From this point of view, this paper aims to discuss political statements scattered in his works and to reflect the political meaning of his thoughts. It will proceed as follows. 1) I will check ‘the ethical relation of the I with the Other’ as a key point of Levinas' philosophy and as the foundation of his political thought, 2) I will discuss the Hobbes' political philosophy that Levinas criticizes as a model of egocentric politics, 3) I will clarify how Levinas develops the ideas of justice, state, human rights on the base of the responsibility on the Other, 4) I will sketch the figure of Levinasian State even though roughly.
