사회정서학습(Social and Emotional Learning, SEL) 기반 초등 1학년 미술수업 실행연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 실행연구는 사회정서학습(Social and Emotional Learning, SEL)을 초등학교 1학년 대상의 미술 프로그램에 적용하여 그 교육적 효과와 적용 가능성을 탐구하였다. 연구자는 1학년 여학생 6명과 남학생 6명을 대상으로 SEL 기반 미술 프로그램을 총 8차시로 설계·운영하였으며, 참여관찰과 초등 SEL 척도 설문을 활용하여 프로그램 전후의 변화를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, SEL 기반 미술 프로그램은 학생들의 감정 인식 및 표현 능력과 또래 관계 형성, 공감 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 등가표본 t-검증 결과 사회정서 역량은 통계적으로 유의미하게 증가하였으며, 또래 관계에서의 사회적 인식과 관계적 기술 영역에서 두드러진 향상이 나타났다. 특히 학생들의 자기 이해 능력과 또래 간 문제 해결 능력의 향상이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 SEL 기반 미술교육이 학생들의 정서적·사회적 역량을 통합적이고 자연스럽게 함양할 수 있는 교육적 모델이 될 수 있음을 제시하며, 초등학교 저학년에서도 SEL의 실질적인 적용 가능성과 교육적 효과를 입증하는 데 의의를 지닌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This action research explored the educational effects and applicability of a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)–based art program for first-grade elementary students. The researcher designed and implemented an eight-session SEL-integrated art program for twelve first-grade students (six girls and six boys), and analyzed changes before and after the program using classroom observations and an elementary-level SEL scale questionnaire. The findings indicated that the SEL-based art program had positive effects on students’ emotional awareness and expression, peer relationship formation, and empathy development. Results of paired-samples t-tests showed statistically significant improvements in overall social and emotional competencies, with particularly notable gains in social awareness and relationship skills within peer interactions. Particular improvements were observed in students’ self-understanding and their ability to resolve interpersonal problems with peers. This study suggests that SEL-based art education can serve as an effective pedagogical model for fostering students’ emotional and social competencies in an integrated and natural manner, and demonstrates the practical applicability and educational effectiveness of SEL for lower elementary grades.
