The paper examines the status of Japanese women in a ubiquitous society is examined from both a positive side and a negative side. Current status of women and ICT such as weak women presence in Japanese government, non-existence of gender-sensitive policies and digital divide amongst older generations of women are narrated in the paper. Imbalance in gender ratio between Japanese women working in IT companies compare men is also analyzed. Also cases of cyber crimes against Japanese girls are also presented. The paper will further elaborate seriousness of the crimes, by introducing the real crime cases. The paper also attempts to shed lights on the positive side of Japanese women in a ubiquitous society such as increase in the number of women-owned e-businesses. The author also looks into gender differences in purposes in starting the e-business and the level of satisfaction.
