      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was carried out to investigate the heavy metal pollution and the correlationship between paddy soil and brown rice near the Kum-River area.
In this study, sixty four soil samples and thirty two brown rice samples were taken from the paddyu soil near the Kum-River area.
The content of heavy metals was measured by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
The results of this study were as follows :
      1. The average contents of soluble heavy metals in surface soil were Cd 0.19, Cu 15.31, Zn 18.10, and Pb 9.08ppm. The average contents of soluble heavy metals in subsurface soil were Cd 0.19, Cu 14.52 Zn 17.75 and Pb 8.1 ppm. The amounts of soluble heavy metals in soil were found to be Zn>Cu>Pb>Cd. The soluble heavy metals in the two layers were not considered significantly different at P>0.1. The average contents of heavy metals in brown rice were Cd 0.0387, Cu 3.28, Zn 11.36, and Pb 0.478ppm.
      2. The content of Cu, Zn, and Pb of G2 and Cd of G4 in surface soil was higher that other areas and four heavy metals of G1 in surface soil. The content of Cd and Cu of G2 and Zn and Pb of G6 in brown rice was higher than other areas and four heavy metals in brown rice of G1 was lower than other areas. The content of Cu and Zn in soil seems to be effected by water pollution.
      3. The ratio of soluble contents(Cd : Cu : Zn : Pb) in surface soil was 1:79:93:47, that of soluble contents in subsurface soil was 1:76:94:43, and that of total contents in brown rice was 1:84:294:12.
      4. The correlationship of the content between soluble heavy metals in surface(0~15cm depth) soil and total heavy metals in brown rice was found to be Cd>Cu>Zn>Pb.
The correlationship of the content between soluble heavy metals in subsurface(20~30cm depth) soil and total heavy metals in brown rice was found to be Cu>Cd>Zn>Pb.
