유럽 문화도시의 축제 프로그램을 통한 예술교육 방향성 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 유럽 문화도시의 축제 프로그램에 나타난 다양한 예술표현 형태를 기반으로 지역문화와 예술교육의 역할 그리고 시민 문화예술 향유에 대하여 논하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 유럽 문화도시로 지정된 글래스고, 아비뇽, 베를린 축제의 특징을 살펴보고, 시민들이 참여하는 예술교육의 분석을 통하여 예술교육의 방향성을 찾고자 한다. 또한 문화도시에서 축제 프로그램의 동향과 예술구 현 방법에서 나타난 시민예술 향유 및 문화예술교육에 대한 가치를 살펴보고자 한다. 문화도시의 대표적인 축제에서는 지역사회와 위원회를 중심으로 시민의 자발적 참여를 유도하였으며, 축제 프로 그램에서 예술표현은 예술가의 작품과 공연에서 공간적 자율성을 내포하고 있다. 따라서 축제 프로그 램을 통한 예술교육은 지역적 인프라와 인적자원의 활용이 축제의 성공과 관련이 있으며, 공공성 있는 예술교육을 위해서는 소통과 예술단체의 내실 있는 운영이 필요하다. 그리고 축제 프로그램에서 는 일시적인 예술 공연보다는 양질의 예술교육에 가치를 두고 공공예술의 차원에서 지속적으로 공동 체와 함께 개발해야하는 시사점을 논하였다.

In this study, we discuss the role of local culture and art education, and local residents’ enjoyment of art and culture based on various forms of artistic expressions found in cultural festivals that take place in European cities. To this end, we identify the characteristics of festivals in designated European cultural cities of Glasgow, Avignon, and Berlin, and explore the direction of art education that engages local residents. We also examine the value of local residents’ enjoyment of art and art education as manifested in the trend of art festival programs and the methods of artistic expressions. Our investigation shows that art festivals taking place in the European cultural cities encourage voluntary participation of local residents, driven by the local community and festival committees. And the art festival programs show that artistic expression contains spatial autonomy in terms of artists’ artwork and performance. Successful art education through art festival depends on utilization of local infrastructure and human resources; and, to implement art education in a way that brings public benefit, it is important to ensure good communication and sound management of art organizations. As for art festival programs, it is important to work with the local community continuously to develop programs with an emphasis on quality art education to bring public benefit, instead of focusing on one-off performances.
