문화자본 지수의 개념화와 측정 = 디마지오의 문화자본 지수 체계를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 현대 한국 사회에 적합한 문화자본 지표 및 척도의 부재라는 한계를 극복하고, 향후 문화자본의 양적연구의 방법론적 도구를 제공하기 위해 한국 사회에 적합한 문화자본 지수를 구성하는 것이다. 이를 위해 부르디외의 이론에 근거해 개발되었고, 이후 많은 후속 연구들에 의해 지속적으로 사용되어져 온 디마지오의 문화자본 지수 체계를 중심으로, 현대 한국 사회에 적합하게 수정·보완한 문화자본 지표를 개발하였다. 그리고 이를 전국규모의 조사인 ?2011년 문화자본에 대한 인식 및 실태조사? 자료에 적용하여 문화자본 지수를 구성하였다. 문화자본 지수는 클래식 음악, 미술, 문학이라는 세 가지 고급예술장르에 대한 태도, 활동, 정보 점수로 구성 되었으며, 지수의 모형 적합도, 타당도와 신뢰도는 확인요인분석과 분산분석을 통해 확인하였다. 문화자본 지수는 모형 적합도가 높을 뿐만 아니라 주요 사회경제적 변수와 유의미한 관련성을 보여주었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

While the importance of an index of cultural capital is widely recognized, the literature lacks a comprehensive measure that can be used to measure the extent and of ranges of cultural capital in Korea. This paper attempts to fill this gap by proposing measurement modes and an index of cultural capital. The index is a multi-dimensional index that captures information on various dimensions of culture: attitude, activities, and knowledge of music, arts, and literature. In particular, the index extends and modifies DiMaggio’s framework of cultural capital which was also developed on the basis of Bourdieu’s theory and widely used in the field. The index relies on data from 2011 the nation-wide survey of cultural capital. Initial findings were consistent with those of previous theories. Using a series of a confirmatory factor analysis to evaluate the data and indexes, we find that the measures developed are highly reliable and valid. Not only the index of cultural capital but also its sub-components are significantly associated with the level of socioeconomic status.
