This field study examined the causal effects of transformational and transactional leadership and the mediating role of trust and value congruence on outcomes such as satisfaction, effectiveness and extra effort. Outcomes were evaluated via three measures-satisfaction, effectiveness, extra effort. Results, based on path analyses using LISREL. indicated that transformational leadership had both direct and indirect effects on outcomes mediated through follower`s trust in the leader and value congruence. However, transactional leadership had only indirect effects on outcomes mediated through follower`s trust and value congruence. At the end of the paper, theoretical and managerial implications of this study, limitations, and future research directions are discussed.
