This studies were surveyed the distribution, seasonal variation of algal biomass and correlation between environmental factors and their biomass of nuisance algae which problems caused by algae in water supplies of the Dongbok reservoir from Jan. 1995 to Dec. 1997.
Nuisance algae were composed of blue-green algae 10 taxa, diatom 24 taxa, green algae 39 taxa and dinoflagellate 2 taxa in75 taxa, and occurred 52 taxa in 95 year, 58 taxa in 96 year and 43 taxa in 97 year
Slime-producing(water bloom) algae was 8 taxa, algae causing coloration of water was 49 taxa, taste and odor causing algae 23 taxa, algae interfering with coagulation and filter clogging algae 38 taxa.
Anabaena macrospora was produced musty odor when their biomass was 37,364×10cell/L, and Microcystis aeruginosa was occurred water blooms when their biomass was 262,000×cells and 200,000×10cells/L, respectively in May and September, 1995.
Optimum enviromental factors when occurred the bloom of Cyanophyceae producing problems causing taste and odor etc. were that water temperature was 15~27℃ at spring and autumm season and pH above 8.0, when pondage suddenly increased and total phosphorus and total mtrogen were high concentration.
Correlation coefficents between the biomass of Microcystis, Eudorina elegans and Scenedesus ecornis, and water temperature was r=0.50~0.57. Diatom was r=-0.54~-0.84. To demanded oxygen, diatom was r=0.55~0.68, Staurastrum senatium was r=-0.52.
