세계화와 사회갈등구조의 변화

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 과제는 민주화와 세계화라는 두 개의 거시적 변화의 충격이 한국사회의 갈등의 형성과 변화 그리고 제도화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 다양한 이론적 쟁점과 경험적 사례들을 통해 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 민주화와 세계화라는 두 개의 맥락적 변수를 구분하고, 그리고 이 두 개의 계기가 어떻게 한국사회의 기존의 갈등을 변형시키고 새로운 갈등을 창출하는지를 다양한 측면에서 검토하고자 한다.
이런 맥락에서 본 과제는 ‘세계화와 사회갈등구조의 변화"라는 주제 하에 세계화를 한국사회 외부로부터의 충격이라는 독립적인 외생변수로서만이 아니라 한국사회의 구성적 변수, 즉 시민사회와 국가의 상호작용 그리고 국가의 역할과 정책적 선택에 의해 영향 받는 내생적 변수의 측면을 통합적으로 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 통해 세계화로 인해 새롭게 창출된 갈등의 문제 혹은 기존 갈등구조의 변형의 문제를 밝히는 동시에, 한국사회의 구조적 특성이 세계화의 내용을 변화시키면서 한국사회의 내생변수로 전환되는 과정을 체계적으로 밝혀보고자 한다.
요약하면, 본 과제는 ‘세계화’에 초점을 맞추어 이러한 외생적인 변수가 어떻게 한국사회의 갈등에 영향을 미치면서 내생적 변수로 전환하고 있는지를 다양한 정책영역에 걸쳐 깊이 있게 분석하고자 하는 데 있다.

This project aims to analyze the impacts of democratization and globalization as two macro-political and socioeconomic changes on the reformation, change, and institutionalization of the social conflict structure in Korean society, providing various theoretical perspectives and empirical evidences. In doing so, this project organizes all individual studies into two sub-projects based on the distinction of two contextual variables, namely, democratization and globalization. Each study in the project is designed to examine how the old conflict structures have been changed by each of two contextual variables and how two variables did generate new conflicts in Korean society.
The Project, "Globalization and the Change in the Structure of Social Conflicts"
is to analyze the reformation of the old conflicts or development of the new conflicts driven by the process of globalization in Korean society. In the project, we conceptualize globalization as an internal variable to be reconstructed by some contextual variables within the Korean society such as the interaction between civil society and the state, the role of the state and its strategic choices as well as an external variable to have independent impacts on the social conflict structure of the Korean society. In particular, the project explores how the Korean society attempts to cope with the challenges of globalization and how the social conflict structure of the Korean society
redefines the core content of globalization, and therefore, how it internalizes the process of globalization.
In sum, this Project conducts the analysis of the effects of globalization on the social conflict structure of Korean society and the internalization of globalization to transform globalization from an external variable forcing the transformation of the state and society to an internal variable encouraging endogenous development strategies of the state and society in Korea.
