      The purpose of this study is to investigate childen's conceptions about the growth of animals and plants. For this study, 154 childerens were sampled from 3th and 5th grade. Data was obtained by paper-pencil test.
      The results of this study, it was found that childrens had formed various preconceptions about the growth of animals and plants. However, they had misconceptions about conditions for germination and growth of the kidney-bean and time of growth. They had also misconceptions about conditions for growth of egg, larva, pupa and imago of the butterfly.
      Childen's scientific conceptions was not increased with age. But, some difference was found between the sex. It was considered that childen were apt not to change their preconceptions easily.
