Image has been shown to be an important influence in the selection of destinations. The purpose of this study is to provide an empirical validation of a model which explains the different factors influencing the visitor's values(rational and emotional benefits). This study will also show how these benefits influence the formation of the destination brand images. The data was collected from two groups of people, convention attendees and general visitors. The study presents the results of an empirical test of the model using correlation, multiple regression and logistic- regression analysis.
A major finding of the study was that a destination's environmental factors, socio-cultural factors and the purpose of visit influenced the visitor's rational and emotional benefits. The socio-cultural factors strongly influenced the emotional benefits. The results of this study provide important implications for marketers to plan the brand marketing strategy for Seoul and a variety of marketing programs for creating and enhancing the city of Seoul as a convention destination.
