대선후보 보도사진에 대한 공정보도 비교연구: 제17대 대통령선거를 중심으로 = A Study of Newsmagazine Photographs of 2007 Korean Presidential Campaign

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explores the main differences on the newspapers` photo coverage of the presidential candidates in terms of fairness and impartiality. For the research, the four major newspapers such as Chosun Ilbo, Joongang Ilbo, Hankyoreh Shinmun, and Kyunghyang Shinmum were analyzed. The results show that Chosun Ilbo has the highest ratio of reporting on the photos for the presidential candidates(29.5%), followed by Kyunghyang Shinmun(26.9%), Hankyoreh Shinmun(22.2%) and Joongang Ilbo(21.4%). In terms of the grand total size of the candidates` newspaper photos, Kyunghyang Shinmun was the outnumbered other daily newspapers with 28.9%, followed by Hankyoreh Shinmun(26.3%), Chosun Ilbo(22.6%), and Joongang Ilbo(22.1%). The research also shows that the newspapers` political stance influenced the photo coverage for the special candidates. For example, the conservative Chosun Ilbo reported more favorably both of Myoungbak Lee and Hyoechang, Lee, conservative political party candidates. However, Kyunghyang Shinmun, a progressive daily, reported more favorably Dongyoung Jeong and Kukhyun Moon, both of progressive political party candidates. Finally, the captions of all newspapers reporting candidate photos gave rarely a full explanations on the presidential campaigns or political-related events, but just a short briefings.
