유아의 관점에서 본 자유놀이 = Children's Approach to Free Play

From the recognition that, in spite of the emphasis on the free play, it has little taken place, this research is to reinterpret the meaning of it by analyzing children‘s recognition of the free play which is one of the effective teaching-learning method for the education of the children. The research studied the free play of 5 year-olds at two child care centers in Seoul. In this study, The collecting and analysis of data is based on ethnological approach.
The study show that the children distinguish between free play and non-free play, as what they could do at their will and must do, and what is fun and not, and what they take part actively and passively, and what is physical activity and cognitive activity, and what is teacher's interference.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 어린이집에 다니는 만 5세 유아를 대상으로 자유놀이에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위하여 구체적인 사례를 통한 질적 연구를 시도하였다. 서울시내에 위치한 두 곳의 어린이집에 대한 질적 연구결과를 바탕으로 유아들의 자유놀이에 대한 인식에 대하여 몇 가지 제언을 하였다. 먼저 유아의 자유놀이에 대한 인식을 분석하는 과정에서 교사와 유아간의 자유놀이에 대한 인식에 차이가 있음이 나타났다. 따라서 교사의 자유놀이에 대한 인식을 분석할 필요성을 제안하였다. 다음으로 유아들의 놀이에 대한 다양한 시각에서의 질적 연구의 중요성이 강조되었다. 본 연구는 자유놀이와 일에 대한 유아의 인식을 관찰 연구한 것으로 현장의 생생한 소리를 담아낼 수 있었다는 측면에서 연구의 중요성이 논의되었다.
