스파이크 존즈의 〈그녀〉에서의 인공지능과 몸, 감정, 윤리적 주체의 문제 = AI, Body, Emotion and Ethical Subject in Spike Jonze’s Her

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 영화 〈그녀〉에서 테오도르와 사만사 사이에 형성되는 복잡한 사랑과 감정에 대해 분석한다. 사랑과 감정을 다루게 될 때 인간적 관점에서 보면 몸은 필수적인 요소이다. 하지만 영화 〈그녀〉의 사만사는 몸이 부재한 대상이다. 몸이 없는 상태에서 사랑이 가능한가? 몸이 부재한 상태라면 타자를 느끼고 판단할 때 사만사가 윤리적 측면에 적용되는 도덕적 행위자나 윤리적 주체가 될 수 있을까라는 문제가 제기될 수 있다. 사만사는 운영체제로서 외롭고 소심한 남자 테오도르가 구매한 상품이다. 2025년의 미래세계에서 손편지 대필작가로 일하는 테오도르는 서로 사랑하고 고통 받는 사람들을 이해하는 것처럼 행동한다. 하지만 테오도르는 그의 부인과의 사이에서 진정한 그리고 실제적인 소통이 부재한 관계로 이혼한다. 그가 운영체제를 구입했을 때 그는 운영체제의 매력에 이끌리고 나아가 이 관계를 통해 치유과정을 거친다. 그럼에도 이 논문에서는 인간이 인간의 존재 조건이라 할 수 있는 감정과 윤리를 프로그래밍화한 인공지능을 개발할 수 있는가 그리고 비록 가능할지라도 인간과 인공지능의 사랑이 인간의 관계처럼 가능한가에 대해 의문을 제기하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to examine the possibility of forming a real and romantic relationship between a human and an AI in Spike Jonze’s her. When it comes to love and emotion to each other, it is necessary to have a body from a humane perspective; but Samantha has no body. Is it possible to have emotion without any body? Without a body, Samantha is unable to be a moral agent or an ethical subject, who feels and judges others with consideration of ethics. Samantha is an OS that is purchased by a lonely and shy man, Theodore, who works as a ghost writer for people in a future world in 2025. Theodore pretends to understand those people who suffer from or love each other, but ironically he gets divorced due to his lack of communication with his wife. When he buys an AI software who makes her own name, he is fascinated by the AI, Samantha, and then he seems to go through a healing process by building up a close relationship with Samantha. Nonetheless, this paper doubts whether humans can create or develop an AI equipped with emotion and ethics, which is a real condition to be a human, not an AI, and whether a man and an AI are able to love each other.
