Private Message Service is a new type of service where idols and fans can have real-time conversations. The service, which started in April 2020, is expanding its popularity in the entertainment market not only in Korea but also around the world. This study explored the effects of motives and para-social interactions of private message service on user satisfaction and star loyalty. The data collected by conducting an online survey were analyzed through the SPSS program. In this study, the motives for using private message services were classified into information seeking motives, social motives, and entertainment and relaxation motives, and the para-social interactions were classified into emotional interactions, cognitive interactions, and behavioral interactions. As a result of the analysis, only social motive was found to have a positive effect on use satisfaction among use motives, and the effect of information seeking motive and entertainment and rest motive on use satisfaction was not statistically significant. It was also confirmed that information seeking motive and social motive had a significant effect on star loyalty, and the effect of entertainment and rest motive on star loyalty was not statistically significant. Among the para-social interactions, emotional and behavioral interactions had a positive effect on user satisfaction, and the effect of cognitive interaction on satisfaction was not statistically significant. It was confirmed that the cognitive interaction had a significant effect on star loyalty. On the other hand, the effect of emotional interaction and behavioral interaction on star loyalty was not statistically significant. It was found that social motivation directly negatively affected star loyalty, but had a positive effect through the mediating effect of satisfaction. In addition, although the effect of emotional and behavioral interactions on star loyalty was not statistically significant, it was confirmed that they had a positive effect on star loyalty due to the mediating effect of satisfaction. The results of this study will be able to provide implications for determining the strategic direction of the service from the perspective of the developer of the private message service and the celebrity agency who uses the service.
