      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study was carried out to analyse physico-chemical and mineralogical characteristics obtaining information for the environmentally friendly management of a sand dune formed at near Okjukdong beach of Daechong island, Ongjingun in Korea.
Soil particles of the studied dune soil were very well sorted into medium sand and fine sand which were finally occupied more than 95%. Mineral composition of sands was consisted in 18∼59% of quartz, 36∼71% of feldspar and 5∼14% of mica.
Weathering ratio(WRL) of light minerals in the studied dune soil was lower than 0.9 for the studied dune soil and its neighbour seaside soils in Daechong island, while that was more than 1.0 for the seaside soils in Baekryung island of Ongjingun and inland sand dunes, and also for yellow sand dust flown China.
Soil fertility of the studied dune soil was lower than average of upland soils in Korea, and it is considered that low fertility will be major limitation for future sustainable development of crop land and planting preparation of win-break forest for the environmentally friendly management of the studied area.
Mineralogical composition and weathering ratio and also particle distribution pattern of the studied dune soil are very similar to contiguous beach soils in Daecheong island, but different from seaside soils of neighbouring "Baekryong island" and fluvial deposit soils or aeolian deposit soils in inland of Korea and also yellow sand dust flown from China. Finally, it is concluded that the studied dune soil in Daecheong island is may not be a far aeolian deposit soil of yellow sand dust flown from China but the local aeolian deposit soil flown from the contiguous beach(Okjukdong), which was caused by both effects of specific climate with strong wind and less precipitation and also particular topography with wind-concentrative valley type. According to climate data recorded by the Korea Meterological Administration, the Baekryeong island located in 7.5km far from the studied area has strong wind more than 4.1mㆍs-1 and lower precipitation than 720㎜ in climatic characteristics. If climatic data of Baegryeong island were used for the estimation of wind erosion, C-value was higher than 18.51.
