『삼국유사(三國遺事)』「기이(記異)」제이(第二) "무왕(武王)"조(條)의 서사 연구 -편목 및 조목과의 연관성을 바탕으로- = A Study of the Narrative of “Muwang(武王)”, the Second Chapter of 「Giyi(紀異)」, 『Samgukyusa(三國遺事)』-Based on the Correlation between Pyenmok and Jomok-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 『삼국유사』‘기이’편 ‘무왕’조를 읽었을 때 생겨나는 서사상의 의문점들을 해결하는데 그 목적이 있다. 무왕(서동)의 정체, 선화공주를 얻는 이야기, 백제의 왕과 신라와의 연관성, 미륵사 창건 등 개별적인 이야기로 보이는 ‘무왕’조 서사에 대한 기존의 연구들은 찬술자의 오류나 구전 설화의 문자화 과정에서 나타나는 윤색이나 덧붙임으로, 그리고 사료가 부족한 고전문학 연구의 한계로 파악하는 경향이 많았다. 본고는 앞선 연구와는 달리 이러한 서사 상의 불균일성이 찬술자의 이데올로기적 봉합에 의한 것으로 본다. 따라서 이러한 어긋나는 것 같은 부분들에서 찬술자의 의도를 파악하고, 찬술자의 의도를 중심으로 다시 ‘무왕’조의 서사를 분석해보고자 한다. 기존의 연구들이 현대 연구자의 관점에서 ‘무왕’조 서사를 파악하였다고 한다면, 본고는 찬술자의 관점에서 서사의 일관성을 도출하고자 하는 것이다. 본고는 이를 위해 『삼국유사』의편목 및 조목의 분석을 통해 찬술작의 찬술 의도를 분석하고, 이를 ‘무왕’조 서사 연구에 적용하고 있다. 그리고 추후 『삼국유사』다른 조목의 연구에도 도움을 주고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to provide answers to questions on narratives, which occur in the readers` mind when they read ‘Muwang(武王)’ in the ‘Giyi’, Samgukyusa. Previous studies about the narrative of ‘Muwang‘, which considers it as being constituted by individual stories dealing with Muwang`s identity, a story of getting Princess Seonhwa, a story of relation between the King of Baekje and Silla, and a story of Mireuksa`s establishment; have tended to consider the studying narrative as a fallacy committed by the author, as an embellishment or addition made in the process of transcribing ‘oral narratives’(Sulhwa), and as a limitation in the study of classic literature brought about by insufficient historical materials. Contrary to the previous studies, this paper argues that the inhomogeneity of the said narrative is actually rooted in the ideological closure made by the author. Against this backdrop, this study firstly aims to understand the author`s intention in these uneven parts of the narrative; and then analyze ‘Muwang`s narrative, carefully considering the author`s intention. In other words, this paper tries to draw the consistency of ‘Muwang’ narrative from the author`s perspective. This differs from previous studies that have attempted to understand the said narrative only from the viewpoint of other researchers. In order to come up with a better understanding of the author`s intention in writing, his other works, Pyeonmok and Jomok in 『Samgukyusa』, would first be analyzed. Then the result of this analysis would be utilized in the study of the narrative of ‘Muwang.’ Lastly, the researcher hopes that this paper would further help future studies related to 『Samgukyusa』.
