Baek Ryunsa temple in Ganjin was called as Man Duksa temple during the Chosun dynasty but in 1917, its name was changed back to what it was originally called until Koryeo Dynasty, Baek Ryunsa Temple. It was designated as a Joposoksa(造泡屬寺) temple of King Incho`s royal tomb during the late Chosun dynasty, and was again designated as a Joposoksa of King Sunjo`s royal tomb. Daeungbojeon hall, which is the main Buddhist sanctum of Baek Ryunsa temple, was last repaired in 1762 but recently, the stylobate was reconstructed, replacing canopies with 9 dragon sculptures, installed inside where canopies were installed. Considering other main Buddhist halls in the southwestern region of Korea that were remodeled during Daeungbojeon hall in Baek Ryunsa temple was remodeled, I was able to find out that the halls of Mi Hwangsa temple and Bul Gapsa temple were similar in their ornamentation style and the formation of top pillar. In addition, by enlarging the geographical range, Bul Guksa temple and Gi Rimsa temple, located in the southeastern region of Korea, also had its main hall style similar to the Baek Ryunsa and Baul Gapsa temple`s main hall. Cosindering the fact that the Buddhist priest craftsmen Kwe-Yeon, who crafted Bul Gapsa Temple, also crafted Bul Guk sa and Gi Rimsa temple, and the fact that the priest Dongpa-Bunggwan stayed in both Bul Gapsa and Baek Ryunsa temple, allow us to understand the reasons why these temples were constructed in similar style. As a result, we can infer that when the Daeungbojeon hall in Baek Ryunsa temple was remodeled in the middle and late 18th century, it employed the style and formation of the main halls in other temples located in the southwestern region of Korea. From this inference, we can present a hypothesis that the southwestern region temples` main hall style was preferred during the middle and late 18th century, resulting in influencing the temples in the southeastern region.
