Jijangsiwangsang at Baekryeonsa temple is supposed to have built as Myungbujeon of Baekryeonsa temple was rebuilt in 1766. Accordingly, it shows the characteristic of the mode of rare Jijangsiwang statue, since it is in the statue of Buddha that well shows the characteristic of late 18th century. It is highly valuable due to its rarity, since the establishment of Buddha statue was not only rare during the 18th century, but Jijangsiwangsang was rarely built. Particularly, it can be said that the tradition of Jeollado Jijangsiwangsang, which was built a lot during the 17th century, can be said to be handed down through this Jijangsiwangsang of Baekryeonsa temple. It is considered that the statues succeeded Jijangsiwangsan of Bulgabsa temple, created by so called Muyeompa, Jijangsiwangsang of Sinheungsa temple of Sokcho, etc., therefore, it can be said the statues have a high value as cultural heritages. Arrangement structure of Jijangsiwangsang or the characteristics fully followed the characteristics of statues, such as the structure of late Joseon, and the characteristic of the style was determined to be similar to the mode of Sammaksa temple Myungbujeon Jijangsiwangsang of 1754 and the seat of Buddhist idol of Gogyeonsa temple of 1761, etc. Faith in Myungbujeon Jijangsiwangsang of the 18th century was quite prosperous, however, currently existing statues are only three. Therefore, this Baekryeonsa temple Jijangsiwangsang is a valuable material to determine the tendency of faith in Jijangsiwangsang during the late 18th century, highly regarded with its value as a Buddhist cultural heritage. Therefore, the researcher considers that Baekryeonsa temple Jijangsiwangsang should be definitely appointed and preserved as a cultural heritage.
