    The purpose of this paper is to show competition strategies for a local business section in a middle & small city focusing on city of Gunsan in Chonbuk. And this paper is focused to revitalization plan of local market in middle & small cities through empirical analysis the present issues and a case study on the revitalization plan for shopping district in middle & small cities.
    Local market has been the most commercial system in local economics, but distributing environment surrounding producer and market has been changed rapidly, and market power of large sized retail store such as supercenter and hypermarket has been increase rapidly. In surrounding, local market has some positions in several aspects. And it has played important role in distribution and regional economy, has long history & culture. And it still has important position for customer s shopping places. So revitalizing local markets are necessary, and since 2002 many revitalizing programs have been carried out. But the results are not satisfactory, because there are no long-term planning, vision, and differentiated/concentrated supporting programs.
    This paper has been empirically researched the effecting factors to the visiting local market by customers. To do this, we survey marketers who participated in collection and distributing, then we has done in statistical analysis with SPSS(v.15.0). The statistical methods was frequency analysis, ANOVA analysis, and logistic regression.
    The results of analysis has been deduced to negative factors in visiting local market by customers They was to poor convenient facilities, diversification insufficiency of productions, origin distrust, unkind, inconvenience of accounts. In the results, when local markets are deprived of customers, this problems have to be restored as soon as possible.
