      The purpose of this study is to recognize the problems of character education in higher education and to suggest ways to improve the problems. In order to investigate the improvement of character education in higher education, this study analyzes the status of character education in higher education. Character education had intrinsic value and external value in higher education related to the continuity of elementary and secondary education and the specificity of higher education. Then, problems of character education in higher education were derived. Character education in higher education has identified five problems. Based on the problem, this study proposed improvement plan in terms of purpose, contents, and operation.
