한국 아동의 정보교환 능력 발달 양상 = The Development of Information Processing Ability in Korean Children

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated the developmental aspect of information processing ability in Korean children The analyses were based on longitudinal data from two children from 24 to 36 months of age. Both children's and adult's utterances were coded for [±topic continuity], [±new information] and [±question]. From the beginning, the children showed high topic continuous ability with 76~83% production of topic continuous speech. The ratio of speech with new information increases highly at the age of 32 months. This paper suggests that the age of 32 months is a critical period related with information processing ability in that the children acquire the active role of information interchange in three respects: their ability to lead a dialogue introducing a new topic is rapidly developed; their role is changed from a passive information giver to an active information demander; and the rate of success in giving new information increases rapidly in this period. It is also shown that the analysis of adult's speech as well as children's is important in order to gain a more precise understanding of the development of children's information processing ability.
