운동선수 직업 계승과 대물림 그리고 스포츠 자본 = Occupational Succession of Athletes and Sports Capital

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to (1) conduct a systematic review of parental influence, parental sports capital, and cases of former athletes’ parents and athletes’ children in elite sports participation, and (2) explore the sociological significance of second-generation athletes’ participation in elite sports.
Method: A literature review was conducted, focusing on previous research and media materials. Additionally, a qualitative case study was conducted, involving 14 participants including 8 parents, 3 athletes, and 3 coaches.
Results: Consequently, theoretically conceptualized parental influence and parental sports capital in elite sports participation, and then systematically presented the case of former athlete parents and athlete children. The sociological significance of second-generation athletes’ participation in elite sports is categorized as the ‘parental social capital that influences advancement in school,’ ‘the transmission of physical capital, attitude, and experience as an athlete,’ and ‘the weak influence of sports capital by female parents.‘ Conclusion: In conclusion, this study is significant because it offers new academic perspectives in the sociology of sport and practical insights into the institutional implications in the field. It provides a theoretical basis for understanding the case of second-generation athletes and the influence of their parents’ sports capital.
