스마트기기 기반 유아용 AAC 앱의 사용성 평가에 관한 질적 연구 = Qualitative Research on Usability Testing of Smart Device-Based AAC Application for Young Children.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explores what features ought to be considered in the development of a smart device based AAC, targeting parents of young children with disabilities. Existing research findings on the positive aspects of AAC intervention for young children tend to overlook the users’ thoughts and emotions. Therefore, it is necessary to understand users’ thoughts regarding AAC intervention for young children. We tested the usability of <Let me tell you>, a smart device-based AAC application. Nine parents used the AAC device for several days and participated in F.G.I. Interview data were written and analyzed through emic, etic and structural coding. The problems with the application are “detached from real life” and “problems with practical use.” Considerations when developing an AAC application are “understanding the meaning of real life-availability”, “understanding the meaning of levels”, and “understanding the parents of children with disabilities.” The results confirmed those of prior researches, pointing out that parents tend to have misconceptions of AAC intervention. However, from the parents’ point of view, it is their values, beliefs, and attitudes rather than misunderstandings. Prior to developing an AAC application, it is also required to recognize that every parents ought to have educational awareness regardless of whether their children have disabilities or not and to understand the hearts of parents who are expecting their children’s improvement.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 장애유아를 둔 부모의 관점에서 한국형 스마트기기 기반 유아용 AAC 도구인 <말해주기> 앱의 사용성 평가를 통해 앱의 문제점과 AAC 개발 시의 고려사항을 살피고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 9명의 장애유아 학부모를 주참여자로 하여 설문지 조사와 함께 초점집단 면담(F.G.I.)를 실시하였다. 연구결과, <말해주기> 앱의 문제점으로는 내장된 단어의 수준부터 아이콘의 내용, 교육적 측면에서 실생활과 동떨어졌다는 의미의 ‘실생활과의 괴리’와 흥미, 교육, 기능적인 부분에서 활용이 어렵다는 의견인 ‘활용상의 문제점’으로 나타났다. 한국형 유아용 AAC 도구를 제작할 때 고려할 사항은 ‘실생활적 유용성의 의미 이해하기’, ‘수준의 의미 이해하기’, ‘장애유아 부모의 마음 이해하기’로 이해하였다. 또한 기존 연구에서 부모들의 ‘오해’라고 지적하는 부분 즉, AAC를 사용하는 것이 아이의 발화를 포기하는 것이라는 부모들의 관점은 이 연구에서도 재차 확인되었다. 그러나 그것은 부모의 관점에서는 오해가 아닌 가치관이자 믿음이고 태도였다. 따라서 AAC 개발과 중재 시에는 AAC 사용의 당위성에 대한 인식을 높이려고 하기 전에 기계음보다는 자녀의 목소리를 듣고자 하는 장애아 부모들의 마음을 먼저 이해하고, 사용자들의 관점에서 AAC 개발과 중재를 바라보아야할 필요가 있다.
