This paper investigates the licensing of Accusative Case in Korean. We show that both syntax and semantics play a crucial role in licensing Accusative Case and hence that the licensing of Accusative Case is an interface between syntax and semantics. First, we examine the licensing of Accusative Case of arguments and present the rule, “Accusative Case of arguments is licensed by an activity verb which governs them.” Second, the licensing of Accusative Case of adverbs is discussed and the rule, “Accusative Case of non-locative adverbs is licensed by an activity verb which c-commands them.”, is presented. Third, this paper explains the licensing of Accusative Case in Double Accusative Construction(DAC).
