과거사문제에 대한 한국 역대 정권의 대응 -관리에서 주도로- = The Response of Former Korean Administration Regards the History Issues : From Management to Leading Rule

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the response to historical issues of the Korean successive governments. During the Cold War era, Park Chung-hee and Chun Doo-hwan seized power in military option. Therefore these governments, in order to satisfy the lack of legitimacy of the regime, promoted economic development. And they had acquired the necessary funds from Japan. To support this plan, the Park Chung-hee government suppressed the people of anti-Japanese sentiment(movement) created from problems of past history, and the Chun Doo- Hwan government controlled the people by the idea of ‘geukil’. The governments of Kim Young-Sam, Roh Moo-hyun and Kim Dae-jung were established as democratic governments. These governments needed the cooperation of Japan for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, resolution of problems of past history was delegated to Japan in hopes of building future-oriented Korean-Japanese relations. However, unlike the expectations of these governments, Japan has rationalized the past history to their benefit. As a result, when the anti-Japanese public opinion resurfaces, the governments would calm the anti-Japanese public opinion by requesting the liquidation of historical issues against Japan.
