태한 사전과 한태 사전 편찬에 관한 소고 (pp.25-40) = A Study of the Publications of Thai-Korean and Korean-Thai Dictionaries

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A dictionary is indispensable for studying a language. In particular, the dictionaries of dual languages are so important for the students who understand and practice foreign languages. Thai-Korean and Korean Thai Dictionaries are bilingual dictionaries.
This work is to survey how the dictionaries, that were published in 1993 and 2006, are helpful for Korean and Thai students who study Thai and Korean languages in respective. In addition, it examines something to be desired in the dictionaries.
The enterprise of Thai-Korean dictionary was embarked by virtue of financial assistances of Korean Ministry of Education and Hankuk Univesity of Foreign Studies in 1986. On the other hand, the financial support of the Ministry as an effort of academic improvement enabled us to start the enterprise of Korean-Thai dictionary in 1993. No doubt, the enterprises were resulted from the increase of the students, the upgrade of their level in study, and the expansion of Korea-Thailand intercourse.
For the improvement of the dictionaries in the future, there is no doubt that not only more strict academic standards should be applied to the jobs, but also the enterprise should be consulted by its experts with the securing of abundant financial support.
