교토대학(京都大學) 다니무라문고(谷村文庫) 소장본 『朝鮮図絵』 속의 초량왜관 = A Study of Chosenzue in Kyoto University Library Tanimura Bunko

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The paper investigates cultural-historical meanings of the Chosenzue. The Chosenzue, a kind of Chosun paintings, is contained in Tanimura Bunko of Kyoto University, Japan. The painting book regarded as an important historical materials consists of the very long scroll(1,400x 31cm) and includes maps, landscapes, customs, and events about Japanese trade post of Chosun, Choryang-Waegwan. The scroll describes eight kinds of independent events and landscapes: 1) perspectives of Jeolyoungdo and Uampo from Busan seashore 2) The scenes that Dongnae Magistrate is just about to arrive at the Sukbaejeon 3) East Wing of Waegwan 4) Scenes of Tiger hunting in Yongdusan mountains 5) a tea ceremony procession of Japanese Envoy’s company 6) West Wing of Waegwan 7) landscapes of Choryang plain 8) The feast in the Gwansuga.
The most of Chosun Waegwan have been illustrated merely as landscapes or maps in the history of images, in spite of some exceptions as “Painting of the Dongnae Magistrate’s Reception for Japanese Envoys” that expresses Dongnae Magistrate procession. But only Chosenzue illustrates “Japanese vice minister’s procession” or “The feast in the Gwansuga” in except. Thus the exclusive value of the scroll is worth academic consideration. And also the work expresses that Japanese and Korean envoys interplay naturally in their feast without formality. These expressions of positive relationships between the both might be a symbol that there is a possibility of a personal exchange with open-mind between Japan and Korea in those days.
The Chosenzue’s existence is just known by some materials but its location of originals was still undiscovered. Interestingly, Kyoto University opens its online digital formats for public on the Kyoto University Digital Library Rare Materials Exhibition recently. With the research paper of the Chosenzue, other many researchers could thematize this rare topic in depth.
