흔암리 유형 재고 : 기원과 연대 = Reconsidering the Heunamri Assemblages : Origin and Date

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기존의 전기무문토기시대의 연구는 흔암리식 토기를 반출하는 유적을 유형으로 설정하여 그 확산과정을 설명하려하고 있다. 즉, 흔암리식 토기는 전기무문토기의 후반부에 한강유역 또는 원산만과 같은 특정지역에서 형성되어 남한 각지로 확산되는 것으로 생각되고 있는데, 본고는 이에 의문을 제기한다. 첫째, 흔암리식 토기를 반출하는 유적은 주민집단을 반영하는 하나의 유형으로 규정하기에는 너무 유적간에 차이가 심하다 둘째, 최근 축적되고 있는 탄소연대를 보면, 가락동식 토기와 흔암리식 토기간에는 시차가 발견되지 않는다. 셋째, 가락동식 토기는 흔암리식 토기와 역삼동식 토기와는 지역적 분포를 달리한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본고는 가락동 유형의 남한지역 등장이 청천강 유역으로의 미송리형 토기 확산으로 인한 이 지역 주민의 남하로 보고, 이들의 일부가 남한지역의 기존 역삼동식 토기 사용집단에 흡수-통합되면서 역삼동식 토기 분포권에서 흔암리식 토기가 동시다발적으로 발생한 것으로 이해한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Studies of the Korean Early Bronze Age have defined the assemblages from which the Heunamri Pottery is found as the Heunamri Assemblage, regarding it as a 'cultural assemblage' that indicates a specific group of people. Based on this assumed definition, the Heunmari Assemblage is considered to have been spread throughout South Korea after its establishment either in the Han River Valley or somewhere in the Wonsan Bay area in the late Early Bronze Age. This paper questions this explanation for the following reasons. First, the Heunamri Pottery assemblage is too variable to define it as a cultural assemblage produced by a specific group of people that shared the same technological/stylistic tradition and group identity. Second, radiocarbon dates demonstrate that there is no difference in beginning date between the Garakdong Assemblages and the Heunmari Assemblages. Third, the Garakdong Assemblages clearly differ in geographical distribution from the Yeoksamdong assemblages and Heunamri assemblages. It is suggested that (1) the appearance of the Garakdong Pottery in South Korea resulted from migration of the Gakhyeong Pottery-using people from the Cheongchon River Valley, due to the advance of the Misongri Pottery/bronze-using people to this area, and (2) the formation of the Heunamri Pottery was a coincident byproduct of the integration of these people into various Yeoksamdong pottery-using groups .
