다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This study examined the utterance rates of negative polarity items(NPIs) and negative pronouns in English simple sentences among university students. Specifically, the utterance rates of participants were investigated in the subject and object positions. A total of 74 participants were divided into three groups based on the English SAT score at the time of admission. There are 31 students for the beginner level, 18 for the intermediate level, and 25 for the advanced level. Overall, the utterance rate of negative pronouns was much higher than that of NPIs in the subject position. In addition, the higher the level, the higher the utterance rate of negative pronouns may be the result of learning. This is because it is the same result compared to previous studies of secondary school students, and the score was much higher. In the object position, the utterance rate of negative pronouns was higher than that of NPIs, but there was no significant difference. This suggests that participants may learn through instruction that both NPIs and negative pronouns are possible in the object position. Similar to the subject position, the higher the level, the higher the utterance rate of negative pronouns, but the utterance rates of NPIs and negative pronouns differ from those in the subject position. Compared to previous studies, the results here are at a much higher level, which is considered to be the outcome of learning. Therefore, it can be interpreted that correct use of negative expressions is somewhat achievable through learning.
