This study was intended to examine the relations of emotional intelligence to conflict management style and stress coping. Data was collected from 127 college students majoring in secretarial science.
The results are as follows; (1) emotional intelligence has positive co-relations with collaboration, forcing, and accommodating, but negative co-relations with avoiding among the conflict management styles. It is revealed that emotional intelligence is influencing factor on the conflict management styles. (2) emotional intelligence has positive co-relations with problem solving, seeking helps, and avoiding problem among the stress coping behavior. Emotional intelligence influences on problem solving and seeking helps on active way , but does not influence on emotional alleviation, wishful thinking and avoiding problem on passive way. From the results, pre-service secretary must know the importance of emotional intelligence. Also this study suggests that curriculums to develop the emotional intelligence should be considered for the pre-service secretary.
