생성형 AI를 활용한 한국 현대시 연구의 방법론적 모색과 시론적(試論的) 적용 = A Methodological Exploration and a Preliminary Application of Generative AI in the Study of Modern Korean Poetry

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 생성형 AI의 등장이 촉발한 인문학 연구 환경의 구조적 변화를 고찰하고, 전통적 인문학과 디지털 인문학 사이의 간극을 좁힐 수 있는 방법론적 가능성을 탐구한다. ChatGPT를 비롯한 대규모 언어모델(LLM)의 높은 접근성은 그간 인문학 연구자들에게 진입장벽으로 작용했던 기술적 난관을 해소하며, 인문학자가 데이터 수집부터 정량적 분석, 질적 해석에 이르는 연구의 전 과정을 주도적으로 설계할 수 있는 환경을 마련해주었다. 본고는 기형도 시편을 대상으로 한 AI 기반 분석 실험을 통해, 생성형 AI가 인문학자로 하여금 기술적 장벽을 넘어 디지털 인문학적 방법론을 능동적으로 전유하게 실제 연구 현장에서 어떻게 작동 가능한지를 보여주는 사례 연구로서의 성격을 갖는다. 이는 기존의 디지털 인문학이 기술적 접근에 치중했던 것과 달리, 인문학적 문제의식이 데이터 분석을 견인하는 연구 모델을 가능케 함으로써 한국문학 연구의 외연을 획기적으로 확장할 수 있음을 시사한다. 결론적으로 AI 시대의 인문학이 기술의 단순한 수용을 넘어, 디지털 분석이 드러낸 거시적 패턴을 인문학적 통찰로 맥락화하고 이를 다시 데이터 분석에 반영하는 ‘해석학적 초순환(Hermeneutic Hypercycle)’을 지향해야 함을 역설한다.

This study investigates the structural transformation of the humanities research landscape triggered by the emergence of generative AI, exploring new methodological possibilities to bridge the gap between traditional humanities and digital humanities. The accessibility of Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, lowers the technical barriers that have historically hindered humanities scholars, creating an environment where researchers can proactively lead the entire process—from data collection and quantitative analysis to qualitative interpretation. Through an experimental analysis of Gi Hyeong-do’s poetry using AI, this paper demonstrates that generative AI empowers humanities scholars to actively appropriate digital humanities methodologies, moving beyond mere technical application. This signifies a shift from a technology-centric approach to a research model driven by humanistic inquiry, thereby substantially expanding the horizons of Korean literature research. Ultimately, this study argues that humanities scholarship in the AI era must aim for a 'Hermeneutic Hypercycle.' In this model, macroscopic patterns revealed by digital analysis are contextualized through humanistic insight, which in turn refines the data model. This proposes a complementary paradigm where traditional and digital approaches recursively reconstruct each other, enabling a multidimensional expansion of literary research.
