The primary purpose of this study is to reveal how a student's high school academic performance is related to their College Achievements(GPA). This thesis is to test several hypotheses relating to the university exam and to determine several factors which influenced the GPA and entrance exam scores.
Each year's high school academic performance is calculated based on the types of enrollment, application procedures, high school groups, and the relationship between high school academic performance and GPA is reviewed.
Students enrolled in any 'S'-university in 2002 through 2004 are selected for this study. All the database used in this study is provided by Entrance exam management system and Information system for Academic Affairs in our university. This database was utilized for the analyses.
A statistical analysis program 'SPSS 12.0K' is used in processing the data.
We conclude following from our analyses.
(1) Whole student from an early entrance has the excellent grades more than whole student from the periodical entrance. (2) The first term general student from an early entrance has excellent grades more than a general student from the periodical entrance. (3) The second term general students from an early entrance have excellent grades more than a general students from the periodical entrance. (4) The first term general students from an early entrance have excellent grades more than Korean Scholastic Aptitude Test results person from the periodical entrance. (5) Grade of Korean Scholastic Aptitude Test results person is excellent more than a general student from the periodical entrance. (6) A group of humane studies has excellent grades more than a natural sciences.
When the average of students' GPA was calculated, the students from the early entrance application showed higher performance than other the periodical entrance groups.
It was observed that College Scholastic Aptitude Test Score is not indirectly related to GPA in any degree when analysis of relation between College Scholastic Aptitude Test Score and GPA for the students from both the early entrance and the periodical entrance.
We found that there were large variation in the relation between high school grade and GPA, which indirectly indicated that high school effects existed in the high school grade system.
