북한체제이행 조건: 레짐이행이론을 적용한 분석 = The Condition of North Korean Regime Transition

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes the conditions surrounding North Korean regime transition by adopting regime transition theory, developed during research of the dictatorship. The three independent variables in North Korean regime transition are: the level of authoritarian institutionalization; the ability of the system to repress political dissent; and the cohesion of the elites. The result of this analysis suggests that the regime is unlikely to collapse in the short term, because the Suryeong monolithic ruling system is stable, the repression and monitoring apparatus operate normally; and there is cohesion among elites. However, as the markets expand, the Suryeong monolithic ruling system will decay, and divisions will appear among the elite. The longer this situation persists, the more political and economic instability will grow with in Kim Jong Un regime.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 독재연구에서 개발된 레짐이행이론을 적용해서 북한체제이행의 조건을 분석했다. 북한체제이행은 권위주의 제도화 수준, 국가억압기구의 규모와 능력, 엘리트 응집력 등 3개 변수를 적용해서 분석했다. 분석결과, 김정은 정권은 수령유일지배체제가 안정적이고, 감시․억압 시스템이 정상적으로 작동하고, 엘리트 응집력이 유지되기 때문에 단기간 내에 붕괴할 가능성이 낮다. 그러나 시장이 확산하면서 수령유일지배체제와 감시․억압 시스템이 약화하고, 엘리트 분열 가능성도 커지고 있다. 이러한 추세가 장기적으로 지속된다면, 김정은 정권의 정치적․경제적 불안정성이 커질 것이다.
