식민지하(植民地下) 조선(朝鮮) 재류(在留) 일본인(日本人)의 특징(特徵)－비교사적(比較史的) 시점(視点)에서 = Features of Japanese Residents under Colonial Korea : in Comparative Historical Perspective with other Colonies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Is there anything peculiar about Japanese residents advanced to colonial Korea in comparison with Japanese ones of colonial Taiwan and so on at the point of the population construction and settling style pre world-warⅡ. I examined it around the year 1910 of annexation of Korea and the wartime of 1930s. Moreover, what features are there in reparing these Japanese people with westerner one in their colonies? Through making clear these points, it will make clear what to relate with ruling colony by migration from Japan to Korea.
Recently, Prof.Sakaguchi(2003)elaborately regulated the meaning of the studying residents of colonies and influencial areas, but he did not carry out the mutual comparison.
Resulting the analyze of several kinds of statistical materials and census data by Foreign office or Government general ,the features of Japanese residents are the great numbers of population about 3% of gross one in 1940 and the massive existence of small and medium merchants and craftsmen in Korea. Their base of capital accumulation was firstly in the conspiracy with Japanese consulate general or army. And later time, their base was in the taking charge of the Korean rice production(as a landowner), processing(as a rice miller)and circulation(as a buyer or a trade merchant). This point is different from the case of Taiwan where there were so-called native rice unhullers and big trading companies such as Mitsui-bussan or Mitsubishi-shoji which purchased unpolished rice and exported them to Japan.
Then, if we prepare Japanese residents in colonies or influencial areas with westerner ones, the latter amounted almost 0.5% of gross population. These a little ten thousands of people positioned the center of administration, army and plantation owner. And hundred thousands of Indian or Chinese imigrants and Eurasian were in the middle and lower class as money lenders, merchants, policemen and railway workers and so on. In case of Algeria, a great many French people lived as farmer settlers. On the occasion of their settlement, cordial convinience were given by government authority.
Thus, the composition of Japanese residents in especially colonial Korea, contained both home people from western and Indian or Chinese in western colonies. What will these residents composed with all classes influence to colonial people? This is my next theme.
