총론 : 새롭게 보는 정조와 19세기

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The declining aspects of the post-King Jeongjo period are relatively prominent considering the glory of the era of King Jeongjo. The contrast not only omits the complex links between the two periods but also helps to simplify the history of the rst half of the 19th century. To avoid this, we should both consider the historical context more closely and distinguish carefully the aspects of the changes involved. At that time, and indeed since the late 18th century,Joseon society was going through various changes in thought and culture. e major dierence between the two periods lies in the inexibility and inecient control of power of the state or central government. We must be acutely aware of the gap between social changes and the ossied state. e purpose of this study is to go beyond the simple political paradigm of ‘Tangpyeong-Sedo’by promoting more complicated views about the period. is is achieved by taking a multidisciplinary approach to King Jeongjo, exploring the relationship between King Jeongjo and Sedo-politics, and examining the heterogeneity of the Sedo-politics period.
