남송 신복윤(1926-2016)의 종말론 = The Eschatology of Dr. Shin Bock Eyun (1926-2016)

Dr. Shin Bock Eyun (1926-2016) was one of the major theologians who represented orthodox Calvinist theology in Korea Presbyterian Church fol- lowing Dr. Park Hyung Nong. He was a theologian who not only succeeded in historic reformed theology well but also made the important contributions by the study and translation of Calvin’s original work. In this paper, I ana- lyzed and evaluated the textbook of the Eschatology (2001), one of the major works of Shin Bock Eyun.
In section II following introduction, I briefly summarized the theological formation process and public career of Shin Bock Eyun. This preliminary examination is essentially necessary because a theologian’s thought can not be independent of his or her formation process or personality. Shin Bock Eyun received the theological education in the Presbyterian traditions in difficult circumstances after Korean liberation from Japanese occupation, and also he contiributed by translating the good theological books when the theological writings were lacking absolutely. He also contributed to or- thodox Calvinism education for half a century by early engaging in theo- logical education.
In section III, I analyzed the contents of the eschatology of Shin Bock Eyun. He explicated the eschatology in line with the traditions of Louis Berkhof and Park Hyung Nong dividing into two parts i.e. the personal eschatology and general eschatology. Although He displayed clearly that he followed the forementioned tradition faithfully not only the basic frame- work but also the main contents, he also showed some innovations by mak- ing use of new materials. In particular, he developed the eschatology based on the Amillennialism just like Berkhof, not the Premillennialism of his mentor, Park Hyung Nong. Shin Bock Eyun has dealt with the introductory part in more detail, and it is characteristic that he paid much attentions on the examination of the biblical texts rather than the sophisticated and diffi- cult philosophical approach. However, it is pointed out that there is no sepa- rate exposition for the inaugurated eschatology, nor the consideration on the development of Dispensationalism(i.e. Progressive Dispensationalism), al- though it is a textbook published in the 21st century.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

남송 신복윤(1926-2016)은 죽산 박형룡에 이어 한국 장로교회내에서 정통 칼 빈주의 신학을 대변했던 주요 신학자 중 한 사람이다. 남송은 역사적 개혁신 학을 잘 계승할 뿐만 아니라 칼빈 원전 연구와 번역 작업을 통해 또 다른 중 요한 기여를 한 신학자이다. 본고에서는 신복윤박사의 주요한 저작 중 하나 인 종말론(2001)을 분석 개관하고 평가하는 작업을 수행해 보았다. 서론에 이은 II에서는 신복윤박사의 신학 형성 과정과 공적인 이력에 대해 간략하게 정리해 보았다. 한 사람의 신학은 그 사람의 형성과정이나 사람됨과 무관할 수 없기 때문에 이러한 선행 작업이 필수적이라고 생각된다. 남송은 해방이 후 어려운 여건속에서도 장로교 신학 수업을 받았으며, 신학저술들이 부족 하던 시기에 좋은 신학 양서들을 번역하기도 했다. 또한 일찍이 신학 교육에 투신해서 반세기 동안 정통 칼빈주의 교육에 기여를 했다. III에서는 남송의 종말론의 내용을 분석 개관해 보았다. 남송은 루이스 벌코프나 박형룡의 전 통을 충실하게 따라 개인적 종말론과 일반적 종말론으로 구분하여 종말론을 설명해준다. 기본적인 틀뿐만 아니라 주요한 내용들이 두 사람의 해석을 충 실하게 반영하고 있긴 하나, 새로운 자료들을 많이 활용함으로 쇄신하는 면 모들도 보여준다. 특히 스승 박형룡의 입장이 아니라 벌코프의 입장을 따라 무천년설적인 입장에 따라 종말론을 전개했다. 남송은 서론 부분을 보다 더 자세하게 다루었으며, 전체적으로 난해한 철학적 접근보다는 성경 본문에 대한 고찰을 중요시하였다는 점도 특징적이다. 다만 21세기에 출간된 교본 으로서 아쉬운 점은 시작된 종말론에 대한 별도의 논의가 누락된 점이나 세 대주의의 발전상에 대한 고려가 결여되어 있다고 하는 점이다.
