1980년대 무크지 운동과 문학장의 변화 = A Study on 1980’s the Mook movement and the Change of Literary Field

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 1980년대 무크지 운동의 출현 배경과 무크지의 주요 지향점을 정리·분석한 글이다. 한국문학사는 1980년대를 무크지 시대로 기록하고 무크지를 억압의 현실에 저항하는 게릴라적 성격의 문학 운동으로 정리하고 있지만, 실제로 무크지의 출현은 문학 외적인 현실보다 민주화와 더불어 성장한 민중들의 문학적 표현 욕망이 중요한 요인이었다. 이 글은 80년대 무크지를 부정적 현실에 의해 추동된 문학주체들의 응전으로 보는 시각을 지양하고 그동안 소외된 문학 제도 바깥의 ‘타자’들의 관점에서 살피는 것이 당대적 진실에 좀더 접근할 수 있다는 생각 위에서 기술되었다. 이러한 문제의식은 80년대 무크지를 70년대 문학운동의 계승이라는 관점이 아니라 주류문학에 대한 비판적 대안운동의 일환으로서 읽고자 한 것이며, 이는 문학사 기술의 주류적 시각과 오늘의 우리 문학에 대한 반성적 성찰을 겸하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때, 1980년을 전후로 하여 등장한 무크지와 무크지운동은 권력의 억압에 의해 강제 폐간된 70년대 『창작과비평』 이나 『문학과지성』 등을 계승한 것이라기보다 그러한 잡지들이 주도한 문학판의 한계와 결여를 비판적으로 극복하려는 의지에서 출현하였으며, 이는 민주주의와 민중시대를 갈망한 시대의식의 문학적 산물이자 문학성과 문학장의 변화를 추동하고자 한 변혁 의지의 소산이었다. 무크지운동은 비주류문학이 개진한 도약의 한 국면이었으며, 성장한 시대의식이 자신을 드러내기 위해 찾은 문학적 형식이자 내용이다. 그것은 완강한 엘리트문학과 서울?중심주의에 기초한 기존 문학제도의 경계를 허물려는 노력의 일환이었으며, ‘작은 문학’ ‘작은 문학주의’를 넘어 ‘다른 문학’의 가능성을 사유하고 문학장 내에서의 수평적 역학 구도를 염원한 문학운동이었다. 무크지운동은 80년대 문학사를 이해하는 데 필수적인 핵심 영역이자 우리 문학의 현재를 진단하는 데 매우 긴요한 결절점이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The research is a arranged analysis statement of mook movement background appearance and main directing point of mook. The history of Korean literature recorded 1980s as mook era and organized mook as cultural guerilla type movement that resist to suppressed reality but actually the appearance of mook began with desire to express among public who grew up with democratization rather than the external reality of literature. The statement was described upon the idea to sublated the vision that view mook as fighting back of literary subjects driven from the negative reality and be more approachable to the truth of present age by examining from the point of view of ‘others’ who were outside of neglected literature system all this time. Such critical mind intended to read mook of 1980s as part of critical alternative movement on mainstream literature and not from the succession of 1970s literary movement standpoint and such intention held additional self examination on our literatures of today and main stream vision of literature company. From this stand point, rather than succession of ceased publications such as 1970s 〈Creation and Criticism〉 or〈Literature and Society〉, appearance of ‘Mook the comic book’ and ‘Mook the comic book’ movement of pre and post 1980 had will to critically overcome limitation and absence of literary version led by those magazines and such appearance was the cultural production of awareness of time that longed for democracy and era of people and result of revolutionary will to drive changes in literary value and filed. ‘Mook the comic book’ movement was one of the situation to express a leap of non?mainstream literature and literary form and contents found for grown awareness of time can expose ownself. It was a literary movement in part of effort to break the barrier of existing literary system based on Seoul?centralism and absolute elite literature and go beyond ‘insignificant literature’ and ‘insignificant literarism’ to own the possibility of ‘other literature’ and that desired horizontal dynamics composition within the literary field. ‘Mook the comic book’ movement is essential focal point to understand literary history of the 80s and key nodal point for diagnose the present state of our literature.
