This study scrutinized Kim chun-taek(金春澤)'s 'Lok(錄)' as a means to expand the range of research on his literary work. 'Lok(錄)' are literary works of a single genre created on the basis of experiences of political trials and alienation such as arrestment, transportation, imprisonment and interrogation.
These works describe one's experience in the flow of political events as a fact. And it can be assumed that Kim chun-taek intentionally chose this style of writing because of this trait. Describing the facts is the most powerful way to prove innocence for Kim Chun-taek, who was convicted in the circumstantial grounds and hearsay. Given this, the facts described in these works are not the facts that actually happened but the facts perceived as a fact and intentionally selected by the author. Therefore, these works show the intention and desire of the author who are embedded in the back of the narrative. In this perspective, this study focused on the reason he chose to describe his experience as a fact not on covering whether the facts described in the works are true. As a result, while the author describing his experience of arrest and transportation, depicting the interrogation scene on a observer's point of view and recreating the crisis during his journey in the sea, the attributes of self-justification can be detected.
In conclusion, it can be said that Kim Chun-taek's works have successfully implemented the notion of 'self-defense' on the basis of the power of 'fact'. In addition to the fact that the special situation of arrestment, transportation, imprisonment and interrogation, which is not often seen in other literary works, becomes the background of the work, this feature can be said to be the characteristic and significance of Kim chun-taek(金春澤)'s 'Lok(錄)'.
